Children are assessed, so they work with children at
the same level. This allows them to take a full part
in all lessons.

They work in pairs so that they:

  • answer every question
  • practise every activity with their partner
  • take turns in talking to each other.

We want children to take a full part in all the lessons, so all children answer every question. Responsibility for talking is not an optional extra; we should expect children to talk in the same way as we expect them to read and write. After all, we learn so much of what we discuss with another person and to teach gives mastery. In this programme we teach the children to teach reading.
