Thursday 13th February
This week we have been busy writing poems about dragons in preparation for our Eisteddfod on March 2nd. We thought of interesting words to describe dragons, our poems are fantastic.
We also started our new literacy unit based on Roald Dahl. This week we have used the Internet to search for the names of books he wrote, then we made a list. As you may have already heard, we love listening to Roald Dahl stories in class. You may wish to look at some Roald Dahl stories over half term or draw/ describe one of his fantastic characters.
In Maths we have been subtracting by counting back. We have also looked carefully at clocks and had a go at telling the time. In Year one, we focus on o'clock and half past. Again, you may wish to practise this at home during Half Term.
Yesterday we had a thoughtful discussion about 'Love'. We talked about who we love and who/ what is special to us. We drew a map of our hearts and we labelled it carefully. We have some incredibly thoughtful and talented children in our class.
We also took this opportunity to do some more baking. We are getting very good at following recipes and measuring ingredients accurately. The idea was to bake something for someone that we love, so if you received a Valentine's cake or biscuit then I hope you enjoyed it!
After Half Term...
We will be enjoying two Forest School sessions with Mrs. Summers, who is trained to make campfires and toast marshmallows safely with children. Please ensure that your child brings in suitable clothing and footwear on Tuesday 24th March and Monday 30th March.
