Friday 9th November
This week we had lots of fun in Forest School acting out the story of Sinderela yn Gymraeg! We worked in groups, watched each other’s performances and then evaluated the performances we saw!
Today we celebrated Remembrance Day with a special assembly and this week we have been researching Remembrance Day using the internet to find facts. We found out that Poppys were one of the first flowers to bloom in the fields after World War 1 and that Remembrance day is always celebrated on 11th November. We also all made a poppy to display in the classroom.
In maths this week we have been learning to add large numbers by splitting them up and adding the tens and units separately. For example, to add 63 and 25 we would complete these sums: 60 + 20 = 80 and 3 + 5 = 8. We then add 80 and 8 to make the answer 88! Perhaps you could try adding some 2 digit numbers this way at home!
This week we also began learning some songs for our Christmas concerts and next week we will begin learning our lines and practising our parts. If there are any problems with costumes or lines please do let us know as soon as possible! Our concert is called ‘Children of the World’ and is all about how Christmas is celebrated differently around the world. We will be researching and finding out about different countries and their Christmas traditions over the coming weeks.
Next week there will no Forest School!
