Week 1 - 13th September 2019
What a busy week we have had settling the children in. They have coped really well dealing with new routines, exploring Nursery and making new friends. Thank you to those of you who took up a home visit. It was lovely to meet the children in their home environments. We appreciate your time and hospitality.
We are a Rights Respecting School at Undy Primary. This week the children have helped to make a class charter, where they choose from a set of rights and responsibilities (chosen from the United Nations Right of the Child). The children have learned about having a right to play, so therefore they have a responsibility to be kind, listen and tidy up. Each child has made a handprint to sign-up to this.
All children have been put into key-worker groups. Your child's key-worker will change termly. The groups are displayed in the self-registration area (see a member of staff if you are unsure where this is). Letters have been sent to tell you about our Nursery lending library which will be starting next week (a copy of the letter is attached below). Each week your child will choose a book from our library to bring home for you to share and enjoy at home with you. The library days will be:
Tuesday – Mrs Somersall’s group
Wednesday – Miss Morrison’s group
Thursday – Mrs Davies’ group
We would be grateful if the books could be returned on the days above so that new ones can be sent home. This will also help to make sure that we have enough books for all of the children too.
We would like to invite you to Stay and play sessions throughout the year. These sessions are a drop in session where you can stay as long as you wish for that session. We will try and hold these on different days of the week to accommodate working parents. The first Stay and Play session will be held on Friday 27th September where we will be taking part in Macmillan’s World’s Largest Coffee Morning. Please join us any time from 10am onwards for the morning session and 1.30 onwards for the afternoon session. Any donations of shop bought cakes would be gratefully received. We will be also having a collection for Macmillan. Look out for future Stay and Play dates. We will let you know the rest of the dates for this term shortly.
Thank you for all of the lovely messages that you have sent in for your child’s Learning Journeys. We have added them to their books. We have already had some ‘golden moments’ and ‘proud moments too. Don’t forget to take more forms as you need them; they are outside Nursery, please help yourself. If you haven’t had chance to compete them yet, just send them in when you can. It’s a lovely way to be part of your child’s journey with us.
Keep checking the learning log on the school website every Friday for more information about what your child has been up to and news of forthcoming events.
Thank you for your support
