Week 3

18.9.20

What another busy week the children have had.  They are settling in really well.

This week we have been listening to The Colour Monster story by Anna LLenas, to help the children learn about their emotions.  We will be doing more work with this story in the coming weeks.

We have also begun to do a Baseline assessment on each child.  This is done within the first six weeks of them starting Nursery and is done in a play based manner, so that we can see where each child is at in their development.  Last week the children showed us how clever they are at holding a pencil and drawing a picture of themselves.  The children’s work has been displayed on a This is Me display in the cloakroom. What amazing artists we have in Nursery!  This week the children have been

All children will be bringing home a library book, from Book Club, next week to share with their grown up.    Book Club days are:

Monday – Miss Lewis’s group

Wednesday – Mrs Somersall’s group

Don’t forget to return your child’s story book on their library day, the following week, so they can bring a new one home.  This will also help to make sure that we have enough books for all of the children too.  We will have separate boxes of books for each group.  Books will be rested for a week before they are reissued in line with Covid guidance.  We hope you enjoy your story time together!

Just a reminder, we are waiting for a few messages for the children’s Learning Journeys to add to their books.  We have already had some ‘golden moments’ and ‘proud moments too.  Don’t forget to take more forms as you need them; they are outside Nursery, please help yourself.  If you haven’t had chance to complete them yet, just send them in when you can.  It’s a lovely way to be part of your child’s journey with us.

Thank you for your contributions for snack time using ParentPay.  The children have enjoyed having cucumber, oranges, bananas, strawberries, tomatoes, raisins and apples this week.  As mentioned before, snack money is also used to purchase baking and creative skills resources.  Thank you for helping us to continue to do these fantastic activities, which provide your child with a wealth of independent learning opportunities.

The new drop-off and pick-up times are working well:

AM Nursery – 9.00 -9.15 drop-off       11.15 – 11.30 pick-up

PM Nursery – 12..30 12.45 drop-off     2.45 – 3.00 pick-up

Siblings can be dropped off at 9am also.

Finally, please could you send in a family photo for us to display on our family board in the snack area.  Don’t forget to follow us on our school Twitter page: @UndySchool to see us in action!
