Week 4 - 27th September 2019

What a funny week of weather we have had!  The boys and girls have done really well learning how to put on our wellies and coats, when the weather has been extremely wet.  They still managed to get outside and have lots of fun!  Just a reminder to bring in some old spare clothes to change into if they get wet.  These can be left on their peg if you wish.

This week in their group activities, the children have been learning about:

Recognising numbers 1-3; listening and responding to weekend news; recognising ‘a’ and mark making in shaving foam; having a go at saying and responding to ‘who are you?’ in Welsh (pwy wyt ti?/ dw i’n …).  We also opened our baking station this week.  The children had lots of fun weighing/measuring/counting as well as mixing and tasting our yummy cakes.  So much learning has been going on, but more importantly, so much fun was had!  Check out our tweets on Twitter: @UndySchool to see us in action!

Thank you to the parents who have logged onto Parentpay and paid for snack/baking activities.  Just a reminder, you can pay your £1.50 weekly or in monthly/termly amounts.  There are 14 weeks for Nursery in this term.

We have continued to do a Baseline assessment on each child.  This week the children have been showing us how clever they are at Maths.  We will continue to assess Maths next week.

Thank you for returning your child’s library books promptly this week.  The children enjoyed choosing and taking another book home.  Just a reminder, the library days are:

Tuesday – Mrs Somersall’s group

Wednesday – Miss Morrison’s group

Thursday – Mrs Davies’ group

Thank you for those of you who were able to come and join in with our first Stay and Play session on Friday.  We hope you enjoyed it.  Thank you for all of your donations.  We made an amazing £86.96 for Macmillan.

We hope you had a chance to have a look at your child’s Learning Journey at the Stay and Play session.  We have already had some ‘golden moments’ and ‘proud moments’ too.  Don’t forget to take more forms as you need them; they are outside Nursery, please help yourself.  If you haven’t had chance to complete them yet, just send them in when you can.  It’s a lovely way to be part of your child’s journey with us.

The Christmas card orders, (robin handprints) will be going off next week.  If you wish to have your child’s artwork made into a Christmas card, please make the payment on-line on the Cauliflower Cards website, and return the artwork to Nursery to be sent off.

Finally we will be going on an autumn walk around our school grounds/Forest School area next Thursday 3rd October.  Please send your child to Nursery dressed in appropriate clothing for the weather!  If you find any conkers, acorns, pine cones while you are out and about over the weekend, we would love for you to send them in for our autumn Seize the Season display!

Thank you for your continued support
