Week 4

What another busy week the children have had.  They are settling in really well.

This week in their group activities, the children have been learning about Book club and colour mixing. All children should have brought home a library book this week to share with their grown up.  We hope you enjoy your story time together.  Don’t forget to return your child’s story book on their library day so they can bring a new one home.  This will also help to make sure that we have enough books for all of the children too.  Just a reminder, the library days are:

Monday – Miss Lewis’s group & Wednesday – Mrs Somersall’s group

This week we have continued to do our Maths Baseline assessment on each child.  The children have tried really hard. There have been lots of stickers given out!  Da iawn bawb.

Just a reminder, we are waiting for just a few messages for your children’s Learning Journeys to add to their books.  We have already had some more ‘golden moments’ and ‘proud moments too.  Don’t forget to take more forms as you need them; they are outside Nursery, please help yourself.  If you haven’t had chance to compete them yet, just send them in when you can.  It’s a lovely way to be part of your child’s journey with us.  Don’t forget to send in your family pictures for our snack area.

Next week we will be starting Forest School on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday.  Please send your child into school for Forest School wearing the appropriate clothing for the weather.  A carrier bag with a change of footwear will be helpful so if they get wet feet, your child has something to change into.  They should already have a bag of spare clothes on their peg.  If your child attends wrap-around care, just send their wellies/coats, etc. in and we’ll change them here.

For P.E. your child can come dressed in joggers, trainers and school t-shirt/jumpers.  Please use whatever you have at home.  You do not need to buy anything in particular.  We will provide drinks for your child.

We will start our baking station next week where the children can come and bake cakes/biscuits/breads, etc. if they wish.  Now your children are enrolled into Nursery, you should have received logon details for ParentPay.  Please speak to the office if you haven’t received your details yet.  Snack money not only pays for the children’s food for snack, but helps to pay for the ingredients to bake with. Thank you for helping us to continue to do these fantastic activities, which provide your child with a wealth of independent learning opportunities.  You can pay your £1.50 weekly or in monthly/termly amounts.

You will shortly receive login details for you to set up a Google Classroom account for your child.  Preparations are being put in place so if we end up in another lockdown we have a platform to continue the children's learning on.  Please activate the account as soon as you receive the details and let us know if you have any issues/questions.

Finally, could we politely ask parents to keep to our drop-off and pick-up times as much as possible due to Covid restrictions.  Our drop-off times are 9.00 – 9.15 & 12.30 – 12.45.  Pick-up 11.15 – 11.30 and 2.45 – 3.00.  For your information, the school photographer will be coming to take individual photos on Wednesday.
