Week 5 - 4th October 2019
Autumn has definitely arrived this week; there’s a definite chill in the air! Thank you for all of the autumn treasures you sent in this week. We have had lots of lovely conkers, pine cones, acorns and even some squash grown by one of the children from seed. Come and have a look at what we have collected on our light box. We had lots of fun exploring the school grounds for autumn treasures, on Thursday for our first Forest School session. See below for more information on our Forest School sessions.
We will be going over to the school hall or using the infant yard on a Monday to do some P.E. Please could you send your child to school dressed in appropriate clothing and footwear. This could be their usual t-shirt/school jumper with jogging bottoms/leggings and trainers.
Forest School Friday!
We will be doing Forest School every Friday from next week. Please send your child to Nursery wearing warm/weather proof clothing including wellies. It would be helpful if you could send spare shoes/clothing in case they need to change on our return to Nursery.
If you need any further information, please ask a member of staff.
This week in their group activities, the children have been learning about:
Counting objects by touching each object as we count a number; listening and responding to weekend news; recognising ‘s’ and mark making in sand; having a go at saying and responding to ‘who are you?’ in Welsh (pwy wyt ti?/ dw i’n …). We also have been baking biscuits in our Baking Station this week. The children had lots of fun weighing/measuring/counting as well as mixing and tasting our yummy biscuits. So much learning has been going on, but more importantly, so much fun was had!
Thank you for your snack payments made on Parentpay Just a reminder, you can pay your £1.50 weekly or in monthly/termly amounts. There are 14 weeks for Nursery in this term.
We have continued to do a Baseline assessment on each child. This week the children have been continuing to show us how clever they are at Maths. We will be focussing on Physical Skills next week.
Book Club is going really well; the children love looking at and choosing a new book to take home. If you have any overdue books please return them as soon as possible. Just a reminder, the library days are:
Tuesday – Mrs Somersall’s group
Wednesday – Miss Morrison’s group
Thursday – Mrs Davies’ group
Next Thursday 10th October we will be celebrating World Mental Health Day. We will be having a Hello Yellow Day where your child can wear something yellow. We ask you bring in a £1 donation towards this charity.
Our next Stay & Play session will be on Tuesday 22nd October where the focus will be autumn crafts. We will be doing pumpkin carving amongst other things. Any donations of pumpkins would be gratefully received. You will also have a chance to have an informal chat with Nursery staff with how your child is settling in to school. If you have any questions or queries about how your child is settling, please speak to a member of staff.
Thank you for your continued support
