Week 6

11th October 2019

We literally had a huge surprise this week.  One of our lovely mums in school brought in a ginormous pumpkin (see Twitter).  The children were both thrilled and amazed at their surprise.  This led on to some super child led learning with independent mark making/drawing of pumpkins.  Come and have a look at our Seize the Season display in Nursery!

This week in their group activities, the children have been learning about:

Making a repeating pattern with two objects; listening and responding to weekend news; recognising ‘d’ and mark making in shaving foam; having a go at saying and responding to ‘who are you?’ in Welsh (pwy wyt ti?/ dw i’n …); baking yellow cakes as part of our Hello Yellow activites for Mental Health Awareness Day; looking for signs of autumn at Forest School.  We wanted to make leaf crowns but it was too wet!

The children have had lots of fun in their Enhanced play:  making ramps to roll conkers down; cutting up autumn leaves to make their own autumn Elmer elephants; drawing pumpkins; making a repeating pattern on the Smartboard; mark making/drawing roads on paper to move cars along.

Just a reminder:

P.E. Mondays!

We will be going over to the school hall or using the infant yard on a Monday to do some P.E.  Please could you send your child to school dressed in appropriate clothing and footwear.  This could be their usual t-shirt/school jumper with jogging bottoms/leggings and trainers.

Forest School Friday!

We will be doing Forest School every Friday from next week.  Please send your child to Nursery wearing warm/weather proof clothing including wellies.  It would be helpful if you could send spare shoes/clothing in case they need to change on our return to Nursery.

Thank you for your snack./baking payments made on Parentpay.  Next week we will be making Harvest soup and baking bread.

Book Club is going really well; the children love looking at and choosing a new book to take home.  If you have any overdue books please return them as soon as possible.  Just a reminder, the library days are:

Tuesday – Mrs Somersall’s group

Wednesday – Miss Morrison’s group

Thursday – Mrs Davies’ group

Our next Stay & Play session will be on Tuesday 22nd October where the focus will be autumn crafts.  We will be doing pumpkin carving amongst other things.  Any donations of pumpkins would be gratefully received.  You will also have a chance to have an informal chat with Nursery staff with how your child is settling in to school.  If you have any questions or queries about how your child is settling, please speak to a member of staff. If you have any Golden Moments etc for their Learning Journeys send them in.

Thank you for your continued support
