Homemade pumpkin soup and baked bread rolls!
Our giant pumpkin has provided lots more authentic learning experiences this week!
This week in their group activities, the children have been learning about:
- Choosing books in Book Club to take home and share with a grown-up.
- Big and small. We compared our giant pumpkin to a small squash. Then the children went on a hunt around Nursery to find big and small items.
- Listening and responding to weekend news.
- Recognising ‘t’ and mark making on whiteboards.
- Having a go at saying shwmae (hello) to each other on our Diwrnod Shwmae Day.
Other activities the children have been involved in are:
- Taking part in yoga in our PE session. First the children pretended to be skeletons. Then they had a great try at Cosy Cats and Peace Out Guided Relaxation. They were super quiet!
- Finally making autumn crowns with the leaves we have collected on our autumn walks. The children really enjoyed finding different autumn coloured leaves to stick on their crown and even sang our song Autumn Leaves are Falling Down!
There will be no Forest School next Friday 25th October as we will be having our Nursery autumn party. Children are invited to come to nursery dressed in an autumn theme (£1 donation to FOUPS please). Small donations of party food/drinks will be greatly appreciated.
The children have had lots of fun in their Enhanced play: exploring our new ‘abc shed’ and our ‘123 shed’ for our outdoor literacy and numeracy equipment; making ramps to roll conkers down; using scissor skills to cut leaves; drawing pumpkins; making shwmae posters; chopping up our huge pumpkin and other vegetables to make pumpkin soup; making bread rolls. Everyone was invited to taste the soup and rolls for snack on Wednesday and most children did. One of the children said “it tastes like sausages.” Another said “it’s yummy.” While another said “it’s orange!” See our school Twiitter feed for photos.
Just a reminder:
We will be going over to the school hall or using the infant yard on a Monday to do some P.E. Please could you send your child to school dressed in appropriate clothing and footwear. This could be their usual t-shirt/school jumper with jogging bottoms/leggings and trainers.
Forest School Friday!
With the exception of next Friday25th October, we will be doing Forest School every Friday from next week. Please send your child to Nursery wearing warm/weather proof clothing including wellies or if you’d prefer dress them as they come in to nursery. It would be a great help if you could take them for a toilet stop before they have all their wet weather gear on! Send spare shoes/clothing in case they are needed on our return to Nursery.
Thank you for your support with snack/baking payments made on Parentpay. Next week we will be making pumpkin and choc chip cookies!
Don’t forget our next Stay & Play session will be on Tuesday 22nd October where the focus will be autumn crafts. There’ll be pumpkin carving amongst other things. Any donations of pumpkins would be gratefully received. Please send in more conkers if you come across any over the weekend!
You will also have a chance to have an informal chat with Nursery staff with how your child is settling in to school. If you have any questions or queries about how your child is settling, please speak to a member of staff. If you have any Golden Moments etc for their Learning Journeys send them in. Tuesday’s Book Club will be done on Wednesday for this week only.
We would like to reduce the amount of paper/plastic we use in Nursery, especially in our Stay and Play sessions. Please bring along a flask cup where we will happily provide you with free tea/coffee etc. If you have any spare flask cups you would like to donate to us, send them in!
Please could you send in a family picture for our display board if you haven’t had chance to do so already.
A list of dates has been emailed and a notice posted outside Nursery to give you advance warning of what’s coming up! A copy has been attached to this Learning Log. Please let us know asap if you wish to join us on our Christmas tree visit/Santa visit as we need to finalise numbers with the garden centre. (see letter attached).
Please not the amendment to the Nursery/Reception Christmas performance for morning Nursery. It will now start at 10am and not 10.30 as previously stated.
Thank you for your continued support
