Welcome to Reception/Year 1
Welcome to the Reception/Year 1 Learning Log.
We hope you will find this page a useful point of contact to find out what we have been doing in school over the past week. Please check it every Friday afternoon when it is updated. We will also post other information which may be of use to you.
|Thursday 15th February|
We have had a very busy week before the half term break. In Maths, the Reception children have been learning the story of 10, practising odd and even numbers and have been counting up and down from different starting points. The Year 1 children have been problem solving and have been measuring amounts to make scrumptious pancakes.
We have been learning about why we celebrate Pancake Day and about Chinese New Year and the Zodiac animals. Today we have had a Chinese day where the children have been completing a range of activities with different members of staff. The children have been making paper lanterns, patterns on plates, writing numbers in Chinese and playing ICT games on the laptops.
In P.E this week, Cosmic Kids yoga has been our focus. We have also carried out an investigation all about sound and the volume of sound at different distances. We found out that the closer you are to the source of the sound, the louder it is.
When we come back after half term, the Eisteddfod is on Thursday 1st March. We have been enjoying practising our songs.
We wish you a lovely half term!
