Home Reading

Here is some updated information about home reading in Reception.

Your child will continue to choose a story book weekly to share with you from our lending library. Additional to this, the children will have a 'home reading' book, when they are ready to share with you and read to you using the skills we teach in school. These need to be returned on their reading day and they will be changed. Please try to keep to their day so all children get the quality time to dicuss the stories they took home with a member of our team as well as read individually.

The books taken home are mainly Oxford Reading Tree. Once your child is oral blending they will attempt to read the cvc words and use the picture cues to support their understanding of the story. Please comment once in their yellow book to let us know how you feel they are getting on.

In addition to the home readers your child may also be ready for a Read, Write Inc. book or reading sheets/flashcards home which they will have read in school. Enjoy listening to your child read the resources sent home. It is important that the any Read, Write Inc. books are returned on their reading day in preparation for their next book.

Please talk to any of us if you have any queries.
